Ross Boa Collado is a self-taught abstract expressionist and visual artist based between Seattle, Washington, and Questa, New Mexico. Born and raised in the Philippines, Collado creates emotionally charged acrylic paintings that explore identity, memory, solitude, and the complexities of the human psyche. His practice draws on the interplay between nature and emotion, translating personal experiences and internal landscapes into visual expressions of color, depth, and movement.

Collado’s work has evolved from visceral, surreal landscapes that evoke utopian and dystopian worlds toward a more minimalist aesthetic characterized by stark contrasts, atmospheric depth, and expressive restraint. Whether through expansive, landscape-inspired compositions or abstract forms, his paintings explore the tension between tranquility and turbulence, inviting viewers to find their own points of connection within the work.

His passion for painting intensified in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests in Seattle. The social and emotional climate of that period became an important backdrop to his early artistic development and his first commissioned painting, Nightfall.

Collado has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the Pacific Northwest, including at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, Collective Visions Gallery, Red Sky Gallery, Studio 103, Gallery Axis, and the Rental Sales Gallery at Portland Art Museum. His solo exhibitions include In Silence (2023), Broken|Beautiful (2023), Dear John (2023), Self-Portrait (2024), and Protean (2025). In 2022, he received the Resident Artists Choice Award at Around the Square at Studio 103 in Seattle.

Collado has achieved notable commercial success at The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles. His February 2025 presentation resulted in 80% of his exhibited works being sold, followed by a sold-out presentation at the October 2025 edition of the fair. These milestones reflect growing collector interest in his work and his expanding presence in the contemporary art market.

Collado's work has received national recognition through two features in Forbes by arts journalist R. Daniel Foster. In February 2025, he was featured alongside artist Josh Cabello in The Other Art Fair Los Angeles Standouts: Josh Cabello And Ross Collado, where Foster described Collado's paintings as deeply psychological, highlighting their minimalist compositions, rich color, atmospheric depth, and exploration of the unconscious.

In January 2026, Collado was featured again in Three Standout Artists At The LA Art Show, following his presentation at the prestigious art fair, represented by Steidel Contemporary Gallery. The article, titled Ross Collado: Finding Beauty Through Vulnerability, explored the compelling narratives behind his abstract expressionist paintings, emphasizing emotional honesty, vulnerability, shifting moods, and the dreamlike quality of his work. These consecutive features in Forbes recognize Collado's distinctive artistic voice and growing presence in the contemporary art scene. 

An avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast, Collado finds continuing inspiration in remote landscapes, hiking trails, expansive vistas, and waterscapes. Through an intuitive and deeply personal practice, he seeks to create paintings that transcend individual experience, inviting viewers into an ongoing dialogue with their own emotions, memories, and perceptions of beauty.
